New reports have just come in saying that the House Permanent Select Committee is likely to vote today to declassify and release a memo alleging that Barack Obama’s Department of Justice abused the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act in order to spy on Donald Trump campaign associates.

The Daily Caller reported that the four page memo was written by California GOP Rep. Devin Nunes, the chairman of the House Permanent Select Intelligence Committee. The document is reportedly the product of many documents the committee recently reviewed from the Justice Department. It also may reveal that the Obama administration used the salacious Fusion GPS “Trump Dossier” to trigger surveillance of Trump campaign aides after the 2016 election, as some Republicans have long claimed.

Today’s vote has to be approved by President Trump, who has five days to officially approve its declassification. Once he gives his approval, the public will get its first glimpse at the inner workings of the Obama administration to undermine the Trump campaign aides and later transition officials.

The House Intelligence and the Senate Judiciary Committees are trying to find out if the Obama administration claimed the dossier was truthful in proceedings before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, which ended up paving the ways for surveillance of Trump associates and transition officials.

Republicans have long said that the Obama administration knowingly used the unverified information to trick the court into approving the surveillance warrants. The document has already been read by 200 Republicans, and many have described it’s contents as downright horrifying.

Rep. Steve King said that the documents conclusions are “worse than Watergate.” Rep. Jim Jordan said the document “is so alarming the American people have to see this.”

North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows added that the memo is both “shocking” and “troubling.”

“Part of me wishes that I didn’t read it because I don’t want to believe that those kinds of things could be happening in this country that I call home and love so much,” he said.

“You think about, ‘is this happening in America or is this the KGB?’ That’s how alarming it is,” stated Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania.
